Formby
is a coastal town in the North West of England, located some
10
miles, 16 km, from the City of Liverpool. It has a population
of about 25,000 people and three Anglican churches one of which
is St. Luke's. St.
Luke's church dates back to 1855 but the site is much older.
A previous building was demolished in a storm, and some graves
in the churchyard date back to the seventeenth century.
Since 4th March we have a new vicar, Rev Harvie
Nicol. Read Harvie's message by following the link "Our Vicar's
message" on the left.
St.
Luke's church is located on the westerly edge of the town, in
a belt of pinewoods which separates us from the sand dunes, beach
and Irish Sea. We offer a warm invitation to visitors and newcomers
to the area to join us in worship, or just to come and look around
our historic place of worship and its grounds.
St.
Luke's is an evangelical church. We expect teaching and preaching
to be Biblically based and provide our members
with opportunities for study through groups. Prayer is important
to us. To
discover more about us, please look through our web site.
You
will find details of work with the church in Africa and our
link to St. Mark's, Shyira, Rwanda, of our ecological work,
service times, and much more. If you
have
any
comments we would like to hear from you.
