Our 150th Anniversary Celebrations.

St.Luke's is not the oldest church in Formby, but the present building is on the site of a much older church. We know little about previous buildings, but feel the witness to Jesus of the present one to be worth celebrating.

A full programme of events was planned for 2005. The main celebrations took place in October, and included a reunion buffet, flower festival and special services. Rev Emmanuel Ndimukaga from our linked parish of Shyira in Rwanda was able to join us. We had a really enjoyable time as we celebrated 150 years of service here at St.Luke's, and looked forward to the future, renewing our commitment to worship, learning and service. This is summarised in out prayer of committment:

Father, we dedicate ourselves
to serve you faithfully
and to follow Christ,
to face the future with him,
seeking the future with him
seeking his special purpose for our lives.
Send us out now to work and to witness
freely, gratefully and hopefully,
in the power of the Holy Spirit,
and for the honour and glory of your Son,
Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
